If I am 'bundling' my phone now, why choose Chestnut?

To convince you there are savings on one service, you likely have to purchase another service, and then another (which you may not even need or want), as well as commit to a long-term contract. Do I have to sign a contract?

With Chestnut you have the freedom of not signing a contract. We only ask that your account is promptly paid at the beginning of each billing cycle.

If I get Chestnut, will it work throughout my home?

Definitely. There are 4 easy solutions:

  1. Adapt the existing telephone wiring in your home to distribute the Chestnut services to all of your phone jacks.
  2. Use a cordless phone system that comes with a base unit and extra handsets.
  3. Get a multiple jack extension connector and connect it to the phone adapter to allow you to have multiple phones on a single line.
  4. Install wireless phone jacks - the base unit connects to the phone adapter and the wireless jacks plug into your household electrical outlets which you can use with your other phones.

What is In-network calling? Does Chestnut have free in-network calling?

Free calling between Chestnut customers is also called in-network, no matter where in the world each is located. This is a very popular feature for many Chestnut customers.

With my moving a lot, cancel and startup fees are expensive? Can I save with Chestnut?

If you move a lot, Chestnut may be your perfect choice. You'll never have to cancel your phone service or pay for set up fees again. DSL Internet

Can I switch from another ISP to your DSL?

There is no problem switching - it's easy. Some ISPs may have locked you into a term contract, so you should verify your option to terminate your service with them. Once done, schedule a termination date. You can now place your order with us, making sure the activation date (no weekends or holidays) is 2 days prior the termination of the previous provider, except if switching from Sympatico, when the dates will be the same.

Do I need Bell phone service to be DSL customer with Chestnut?

No. We can activate your broadband service via most analog phone circuits.

What is dry DSL?

If you have no active phone service, you will be provided broadband (and digital voice) through the existing wires with a dry DSL connection. The fee (Band rate) for dry loop varies region to region. Ask your vendor for the rate where your service is planned.

How long does DSL activation take?

The lead-time for active services is 5 business days following account prepayment.

Can I use my own modem?

If you have a modem that supports G.DMT and be PPPoE configurable, it can be used. Chestnut, however, cannot back any warranties tech support.

What is dry DSL?

Your modem will normally be supplied directly to you by your retailer. If you are to receive your modem from Chestnut, it will be forwarded by UPS to your service address.

Do I need filters?

The purpose of a filter is to fit in between your phone line wall jack and telephone (Bell-type, not Digital Voice) The high frequency noise in the telephone line must be filtered out of the signal to the modem, and similarly, telephone noise must be prevented from reaching the modem.
